After a little bit of research, I have discovered that March 20th (the first day of spring) is indeed macaron day in France. However, it is only celebrated at the Pierre Hermé boutiques in Paris (and a few other select places) where they give free tastings in an effort to raise awareness for a variety of charities. How lovely!
